Growing a Personal Brand

It seems like every time I turn around; another person is talking about personal branding. There is no shortage of people willing to tell you how to create, promote, and grow your personal brand. But here is the secret few will say to you. Your personal brand grows out of the work, value, and help you give to others. Your character is the basis of your brand. It cannot be created from thin air or fabricated. It takes time and consistency.

The exciting thing that a great personal branding coach can do for you is to help you uncover the parts of your character, “your brand,” that are valuable to others. Such a coach can then help you define a way to promote and tell your story to help you deliver value to others.

Find A Personal Branding Coach

But how do you find a great coach to help you define and grow your personal brand? The secret is finding someone who has a legacy of trusted and valuable work. A good coach should be someone who has the experience of helping others and providing solutions for others. They are the one who has been there before and can help you discover how you can help others. If you troll Instagram, you will find numerous coaches willing to help you. Many may be able to help you, and many who are just ready to take your money and promote themselves. Let me help you cut through the clutter.

Action Items

Knowing Chris for many years, I knew he would have a lot of value to offer all of you. So, below, find what I believe to be the key items from our conversation that you can put into action today to help you build your personal brand and get a good start today.

  • Mindset.  If you want to get off to a good start every day, it all starts with your mindset. Keeping a positive attitude will help you see the good and positive things around you. Reject those who are consistently negative and suck the air out of any room they occupy. Being grateful for my current position in life puts me in the right frame of mind at the beginning of my day. An easy way to be grateful is to remember there is always someone willing to switch places with you because being you would be a vast improvement over their current position in the world.
  • The Little Things. I used to have a manager who said, “the devil is in the details.” Not only was that true at the time for the project we were working on, but it is valid for life. The small details of our everyday interactions with others are what creates our personal brand. It is being polite, helping others, or simply saying hello. All these little things are the bricks that form the foundation of our character, our personal brand. The details that life provides for us every day are essential. Each one is an opportunity to show you care for others. Neatness counts in handwriting and life, and neatness is synonymous with the little things people remember.
  • Do Not Let Fear Hold You Back. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. If they do, separate yourself from them and get a better circle of friends. Be courageous enough to attempt something new. Even if you fail, you will inspire others by trying. You will learn something new by trying. The only thing you have to lose is the opportunity to grow and learn. If you have been hesitating on trying something, do not wait any longer. Go do it and do it today. It will provide you with personal growth, whether you succeed or fail.

Conclusion

Your personal growth and development come from your experiences and interactions with others. It comes from continuous learning, trial, and error. Provide value by offering your services and knowledge to help solve other’s problems. Your brand will shine through when you do, and then Chris at Rock It Growth Agency can help you get a good start.

I appreciate feedback of all kinds, so please email me any questions or feedback to scott@getagoodstart.com. Have a great week, and remember, it doesn’t take a lot to get a good start; you just have to start. Thank you.
